In August of 2000, Beth Richardson, a longtime resident of Clarkton, MO, auditioned for the position of Earthlight Alto and was ultimately chosen to fulfill the next stage in her life and career with this exciting musical youth ministry.
When asked how long she has been singing, Beth, who recently turned 21 in May, recalls, "I've been singing since I can remember. My dad would always make me get up and sing. He'd always tell me to sing the 'peppy' songs... the ones that have a little life to them."
Being born into a musically gifted family, Beth has always looked up to and admired her older sisters, "Pam travelled and sang with a group called 'The Young Inspirations'. When they disbanned she later moved on to 'Full Circle' another group very popular in Southeast Missouri. My oldest sister Lisa plays the piano. I used to stand behind her when she'd play... I had a little fake microphone and I would sing and dance along with her playing."
Beth has traveled and sang for close to 3 years, becoming very popular on a local radio and television show, "The Glory Train" located in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, she quickly rose in the ranks of the most requested local artists. After having been on the program for 4 months, she teamed up with another Glory Train favorite, Mike Simons and began a vocal partnership that has lasted for close to 2 years at this current time.
Upon the resignation of B.J. Crowder as Earthlight Manager in December of 2001, Beth and Mike were chosen to fulfill the position of managers for the group.
Any and all accomplishments Beth has made in her career and in her personal growth is attributed with full credit to her lord and saviour, Jesus Christ whom she accepted in her heart at the age of 11, and later became rededicated at age 18.
While at the university, Beth is majoring in Music Education and Social Sciences and would eventually like to pursue a Master's degree in counseling. In the meantime, she plans to enjoy her time at OCU with Earthlight spreading God's word, and with her boyfriend Kyle, also a student of OCU.
