Josh Trotter sings baritone for earthlight this year. He is 20 years old. He is the son of Rev. Mike and Kathy Trotter, and resides in Hendersonville, TN. This is his first year at Oakland City University and his first year to sing with Earthlight.
Josh started singing about the same time he could talk. At age 2, he had his first opportunity to sing publicly when he sang amazing grace one Sunday at his church. Ever since that time there has been no looking back.
Josh's vocal skills were sharpened in high school when he was awarded the privilege of being a part of a nationally renowned high school coral department. The Hendersonville Select Chorus, under the direction of Linda Towe, gave Josh the chance to sing at many large venues. This included being the featured entertainment at the Biltmore Mansion in Ashville, NC for the Christmas season in 2000. High school also opened the door for him to perform in many talent shows and showcases. He was also selected to sing the national anthem for the Tennessee state high school basketball tournament's championship game in 2001.
Josh's passion is singing for the lord. He loves southern gospel music and has a solid background in it as well. He has been in several trios, quartets, and other groups through the years. He is currently a religious studies major, and is focusing his life on learning to hear God's voice stronger and becoming a better instrument for the lord to use. Josh's prayer for this year is simply that God will use him and the other members of earthlight to touch the hearts of all those they come in contact with.
Josh is also the first 2nd generation earthlight member in history. Josh's dad was a member of earthlight in the 70's.
"14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."
